SAIGON PHOTO WALKS - EYEVOYAGE
Print

If you're in Vietnam and want to get off the beaten track, I'd love to show you the places, that amaze and inspire me. Along the way, I’ll share with you the things I’ve learnt about photography in the last 20 yrs - from techniques, to heart and connection.

Please see below for current tour details:

HO CHI MINH CITY - CHOLON PHOTO WALK

I’d like to show you one of my favourite areas of Ho Chi Minh, ‘Cho Lon’. Perhaps the busiest district in Saigon, Cho Lon is teeming with life and colour, the streets bustle with many street vendors, shops, temples, and markets.

I often come to Cho Lon to take photographs and I look forward to showing you the unique spots that I’ve discovered. We’ll grab a coffee (or tea), talk about what interests you and as we explore Cho Lon, I’ll share with you the photo techniques and tricks I use daily. I’ll help you to see light, composition & most of all, connection to your subject. For those of you who are scared of taking street portraits, I'll show you how to overcome this to get the best possible real-life shots.

No matter what your photo level you’re at, or even if you’re more interested in discovering new places on the tour, I’d love to share with you the things I see that make Cho Lon special.

We'll meet in Distrct 1 (be ready for an early start) and then get a car to Cholon. Once there, I'll show you the places that I love visiting, including markets and street locations which are quite unique and great for photos. We'll also see one or two temples and of course, stop for coffee and food as needed. The tour will be flexible depending on each person's wishes.

HO CHI MINH CITY - FLOWER MARKET PHOTO WALK

I’d like to show you one of the most colourful areas of Ho Chi Minh, a place that surprisingly few tourists visit. It’s where markets, street vendors, street-food and or course, Saigon’s main flower market merge.

Come and explore with me, as I show you the flower markets first thing in the morning. See the motorbikes and carts overloaded with flowers - it’s quite a site. We’ll also explore the quaint Cambodian Market, street markets and alleyways. Finally, we can sample the wide array of street-food and visit one of Saigon's oldest cafes.

I look forward to meeting you and discussing over a coffee (or tea), what interests you and I’ll share with you the photo techniques and tricks I use daily. I’ll help you to see light, composition & most of all, connection to your subject. For those of you who are scared of taking street portraits, I'll show you how to overcome this to get the best possible real-life shots.

No matter what your photo level you’re at, or even if you’re more interested in discovering new places on the tour, I’d love to share with you the things that make the flower market and its surrounds so special.

We'll meet in Distrct 1 and get a car to the Flower Market. From here we’ll walk around, exploring the surrounding streets which include the Cambodian Market, as well as street markets and alleys. Expect loads of great photo opportunities, interesting sites, and some really yummy street-food along the way. Once done, We’ll get a car back to District 1.

"The morning spent with Sam was amazing. He really knows photography and we learnt a lot ! We really appreciate his way of doing street photography and how to connect with people for portraits. He gave us a lot of tips and tricks, but also really good advices after looking at our own way of doing photography and tastes. He is really a good teacher and always answers any question you have. We also had really good talks about other subjects than photography and learned new things about HCMC and Vietnam. We recommend this experience, it will definitely change our way of doing photography!"

"The flower market was a real eye opener! I’ve been wanting to improve my photography for sometime and I wasn’t disappointed. Sam was super nice in the way he explained things. He took his time and showed me some ways to get better shots. I also liked the way he spoke about getting meaningful photos and not to focus too much on camera settings. I’m not a fan of early starts, but the coffee helped. Thanks Sam!"
